Although breeding Labrador’s is not an exact science, we at Living Waters hold the highest level of integrity in selecting the best, over all, in a well rounded Labrador Retriever. We believe that a dog should be able to do what he was bred to do, in order to receive the right to be called a Retriever. So temperament is number one and health and movement are a un-compromised second.

We also believe that a dogs future lies mostly in the hands of its owner and care taker. With the increases in unwanted pets one can assure the worth of a pet by obedience training. Simply put, an obedience trained pet will maintain its worth through the years no matter were it goes. Well-behaved pets don't show up in animal shelters and or abandoned along the highways and bye ways.

Environment can play an important role in the health of your dog. There are insecticides that cause eye problems and linoleum floors that are hard on hips. So its important for the first few years to let your puppy develop physically as well as emotionally by controlling his or her environment.

Controlling his environment is a big challenge to take. It simply means don't let the environment mold something out of your pet that you don't want. I once knew of a man that did not like his neighbor so he would stimulate his neighbors dog to bark when the neighbor was not home. This was starting to develop anger amongst the other neighbors and before long there were complaints made to the city. The man who owned the dog should have controlled his environment by placing the dog in an area where the dog could not be stimulated by others, intentional or not.

HIP GUARANTEE - Your puppy was bred from the best of stock, and his pedigree is a fine one. Both parents are certified by the Orthopedic Foundation of Animals (817 Virginia Avenue, Columbia, Missouri 65201) or prelimed by an OFA official, the national registry for hip dysphasia control. A certified dog must be shown by x-ray to be free of hip dysphasia, and all our breeding stock must have certification to be used in our breeding program. Hip dysphasia has been shown to be 50% due to heredity (the other 50% being due to environmental factors). So the new owner shares in the responsibility to help prevent this crippling disease.

Your puppy is guaranteed to be free of the symptoms of hip dysphasia at two years of age, which is the age the OFA feels hip dysphasia is seen on x-ray if it is to occur.
Requirement #1
In order to be covered by the above guarantee;
1. The dog must carry the Living Waters prefix in his registered name unless other wised agreed.
2. The OFA evaluation must be made by the time your dog is 30 mouths of age.
3. The dog must not have been used for breeding - i.e. have whelped or sired a litter.
If your dog is suspected of having hip dysphasia;
1. Notify me of the situation, by letter or telephone, at once.
2. Send the hip x-rays to OFA for evaluation. The OFA will give you an evaluation at 6 mouths of age or older, but a dog must be 24 months of age or older with normal hips in order to be certified.

ELBOW DYSPLASIA - same rules apply as with hip dysphasia.

EYE GUARANTEE - There are several eye conditions that we are concerned with, cataract, retinal dysphasia,( PRA) progressive retinal atrophy are but a few. Our dogs receive regular eye examinations by a board-certified ophthalmologist. Your puppy is guaranteed to be free of eye problems at the age of two if there is no sign of injury to the eye, and must be examined by a board-certified ophthalmologist for this contract to be valid.
Requirement #2
In order to be covered by the above guarantee:
1. The dog must be examined by the time your dog is six mouths of age (this is to protect you as the buyer) and then again at 30 mouths of age.
2. The dog must not have been used for breeding.
3. The dog must have the Living Waters prefix in his registered name.

If the above guarantee is meet by the puppy buyer and there is defect not contributed by the owner then the animal listed above will be replaced by Living Waters Labrador’s

Special NOTE:( The defective animal well being is still taken under consideration by Living Waters Labrador’s. If the animal is doing well in its environment and the owner wishes to keep the animal in their home then that can be arranged. And a replacement can still be setup.)
